Child sexual abuse and sexual exploitation

Abstract

Crimes affecting minors are diverse; however, sexual offenses stand out, arising from conditions and situations of vulnerability that may lead to other forms of violence, such as sexual exploitation. In response, the Mexican State punishes and sanctions these behaviors through the Federal Penal Code and the Law to Prevent, Punish, and Eradicate Crimes in Matters of Human Trafficking. Based on this issue, various parameters and aspects—both international and national—recognized in the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Mexican Constitution, and the General Law on the Rights of Girls, Boys, and Adolescents will be considered, in order to identify the material and circumstantial elements that influence victimization.
