Abstract

This study explores whether there is a correlation between the consumption of crime or psychopathy-related content and individuals’ social perceptions of the topic, as well as the influence of series and films on the formation of negative stereotypes.
Through an open-ended survey applied to a diverse group of participants, data were collected on media consumption habits and associated perceptions. The results show a moderate correlation between the type of content consumed and the way
certain social groups are perceived, suggesting that crime or psychopathy based entertainment may influence the construction of stereotypes.
