Abstract

The book The Scientific Certification of Expert Witnesses, by Dr. Eliseo Lázaro Ruiz, constitutes a significant contribution to the study of expert evidence within Mexico’s adversarial criminal justice system. Its principal merit lies in addressing an issue that has gained increasing importance as a result of the transformation of the criminal justice model: the need to ensure that expert testimony is grounded in verifiable scientific, ethical, and methodological standards. From this perspective, the author argues that expert certification is essential to improving the quality of expert reports and strengthening confidence in scientific evidence within criminal proceedings.
